A visual field test determines just how far an eye can see without moving, and how sensitive vision is in different parts of the vision field. Basically, it helps know how well and how far up, down, left and right a person can see without actually moving their eye.
Glaucoma, diabetes, stroke, certain tumors and retinal disorders are some medical conditions that require regular visual field testing. People who have suffered a head or eye injury also undergo this test to see if vision is affected and to determine the extent of injury.
