history

Starting from Chandni Chowk to our current premises in a customized space, Chohan Eye Hospital has been consistently providing top-class eye care to the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. We are proud to have built over four decades a reputation of successfully treating common eye problems as well as complex cases that threaten vision.

Dr. Bashir Chohan

Founder

Chohan Eye Hospital was established in 1971 by Dr Bashir Chohan in Rawalpindi.

Dr Chohan was a first generation doctor who studied and practiced medicine in the UK from 1960 to 1969.

He moved back to Pakistan in 1970 and worked at the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical College in Karachi till 1971.

He then moved to Rawalpindi to set up his own eye hospital to serve the locals.

From 1971 to 1983, he also served as the Head of Ophthalmology at the Poly Clinic.

After a brief stint in Saudi Arabia from 1976 to 1981, he moved back to Islamabad and moved the eye hospital from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.

Dr. Atif Chohan

Medical Director

Taking his father’s legacy forward, Dr Atif Chohan is the Medical Director and Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon at Chohan Eye Hospital.

He is an award-winning ophthalmologist, and over the years has consistently worked to stay ahead of others in the field eye care.

To this end he has a number of achievements to his name such as:
Membership of Royal College of Ophthalmology (London)
Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburg) and
Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons (UK)
Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery (Australia).
