Chohan Eye Hospital was established in 1971 by Dr Bashir Chohan in Rawalpindi.
Dr Chohan was a first generation doctor who studied and practiced medicine in the UK from 1960 to 1969.
He moved back to Pakistan in 1970 and worked at the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical College in Karachi till 1971.
He then moved to Rawalpindi to set up his own eye hospital to serve the locals.
From 1971 to 1983, he also served as the Head of Ophthalmology at the Poly Clinic.
After a brief stint in Saudi Arabia from 1976 to 1981, he moved back to Islamabad and moved the eye hospital from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.
